MIXING

YOUR MUSIC IS SO IMPORTANT AND you've WORKED SO HARD TO WRITE, ReHEARSE and record IT.

I CAN TAKE YOUR RAW TRACKS AND turn THem into GREAT-SOUNDING, polished, STEREO MIXES THAT WILL TRANSLATE PERFECTLY TO ANY LISTENING ENVIRONMENT.

You've already invested a decent amount of time and money to get your music recorded—not to mention the cost of all those rehearsals. So really, on top of all that, do you then need to hire someone else to mix your music?

Well unless you or anyone else in your team is a skilled mixing engineer, the answer is definitely YES! And the fact that you've already poured so much of your creativity, time and resources into getting your music this far,  makes it even more important to do so.

I will take the your raw tracks and create a professional sounding mix that will not just bring sonic clarity and definition to your recordings but it will not only make them sound more interesting but it will imbue them with more character—what some people call 'vibe'. Your songs will be better represented and translate to your listeners more effectively, across a wider range of listening systems, from high end hi-fi setups to the inexpensive, mid-rangey speakers on your laptop. You've already invested heavily to bring your creativity to life through your music. Surely, it deserves to sound as good as it possibly can?

Bigger, punchier and more detailed

Here's a short audio clip that compares a rough mix, which sent by a client for reference purposes, with the final stereo mix. The rough mix is typical of the kind of thing that bands and artists send and whilst it provides important information about the arrangement (panning, perspective, etc.) it’s muddy and lacks energy and character. In this case, replaced the stock Logic drums—recording live drums on the choruses and reprogramming the drums on the verses. The clip cuts between the rough mix and the final mix and both tracks have been volume matched to mitigate the effects of loudness bias.

MY WORK

Here are some of my most recent mixes. I'd like to extend my thanks and gratitude to all of the bands/artists for letting me feature their music in this show reel.

Here's a bright, punchy mix of the track, Hell To Pay by New Device, which loosely references Joe Baressi's work with the band Chevelle.

Here are five tracks from The Bennett Sessions EP by Jack G. Wilson, which was recorded by Gramy winning engineer, Dae Bennet and features the stellar rhythm section of Shawn Pelton and Will Lee. These mixes have are generally a darker sounding, loosely referencing Brenden O'Brien's work with Velvet Revolver.

This is the tune Bullet by Kill The Sirens, which features the super-talented London based rapper, Lefty. As well as mixing this track, I also programmed all of the drums.

Here's a mix of the the track Houses by The Duke Spirit. This song has a great groove that I really wanted to enhance by bringing out the rhythmic elements of the track.

Here's a hip-hop track by Paris-based rapper, Flowery Beard from his EP, Mawon.

Here's my mix of a track by Bad Mammoth entitled Loose Lips. This track features a lot of guitar and vocal parts, which form a sophisticated arrangement. The idea was to give those parts their own distinct space in the mix without compromising the momentumum of the rhythm section. The band's sonic referenece point for this track was Brendan O'Brien's work with Billy Talent.
